In my newest memoir “Sacred Fire: Memoir of A Marriage” I write about becoming a new mum. How I did not fall in love with the bundle of joy as all the books and movies show! It felt extremely vulnerable to write (I prepared my daughter who was in her 30’s by then that this was in the book). She was so sweet about it and encouraged me to share it because it was my authentic lived experience.

We’ve been sold a lie. And it’s time mamas started to tell the whole truth about parenting. Like you’re doing so beautifully Alex! 🤗

This one got me. I've had so many of these moments. I'm always amazed at how quickly they are to forgive and literally forget. After a meltdown or a fight, they just move on. I always apologize when I've been the one who lost it, and they're so quick to say, "that's ok." I think we could all learn something about how not to hold grudges or let a fight or argument derail our whole day!

Also, my kids are now 5, 8, and 10, and 3 was *by far* the hardest age for all of them, so just hang on and enjoy the snuggles while white knuckling through the rest!
